Welder Andrew Kay, Local 597 Chicago, and Plumber Travis Sharp, Local 23 Rockford, each captured top honors in their respective crafts. Both advanced to the international stage after winning at the state and district levels, ultimately competing against apprentices from across the United States, Canada, and Australia.

The five-day competition takes place in Ann Arbor, Michigan and coincides with the United Association’s Instructor Training Program where over 3,500 UA Instructors build on their skills every year.

In partnership with our signatory contractors, IPTA Local Unions remain committed to substantial investments in our Joint Apprenticeship Training Programs, ensuring the development of highly skilled Pipefitters, Plumbers, Sprinkler Fitters, Welders, and HVACR Mechanics throughout Illinois and across the industry.
